Parents of 5th graders: Remember to join us tonight at the ADHD Dude YouTube channel at 9:00 Eastern/6:00 Pacific where Iโll be answering your questions.
Look forward to speaking with you!
I meet many families of kids diagnosed with ADHD where kidsโ behavior is fine at school but they are very difficult at home. In these cases what i often find is a lack of authoritative parenting, โhigh giving/low expectationsโ, and a lack of behavioral โscaffoldingโ.
Parents of elementary schoolers with ADHD: Please join us for an ADHD Dude Live 5/13/21 โ Ryan Wexelblatt (ADHD Dude)
When I started offering virtual appointments I found the same thing-kids would be completely distracted because their parent was sitting off camera, monitoring the conversation, prompting them, etc.
How would you have felt if your parent was constantly monitoring your conversations, prompting you how to answer and speaking for you? Would you find it annoying or anxiety producing? Would you feel like you couldnโt speak freely?
How can kids improve their self-advocacy skills, learn how to ask for help or clarification if they are not permitted to speak for themselves, or if all their communication is micromanaged by a hovering parent?
Join me for a short chat and the premier of my latest video at 7:45 P.M. Eastern/4:45 P.M. Pacific tonight.
